The No.1 contender in the lightweight division Khabib Nurmagomedov dismisses the on-going McGregor-Mayweather fight rumors and calls it a no.1 trash talk. According to the unbeaten (24-0) fighter “The Notorious” has no option left but to face him inside the Octagon ring in order to defend his lightweight title.
Few days ago, UFC president Dana White further fueled the speculation by offering $25 million each plus a percentage of PPV revenue to both for a boxing match.
Even though this is just an offer, neither camp has taken it seriously. Maybe this is about time both “The Notorious” and “Money” Mayweather stop all this talk of facing each other and start focusing on real challenges and realistic opponents.
Up till now, The Irishman and the Russian have both destroyed their opponents and therefore it’s about time they face each other inside the Octagon. If this happens, it will be one of the biggest fights in the history of UFC, which fight fans want to see. However, before that happens Nurmagomedov must beat Tony Ferguson at UFC 209 on March 4 in Las Vegas and become the interim lightweight champion.
